Available for the first time in five years, the iconic PUMA Clyde sneaker makes its return. Originally introduced in 1973 as the signature shoe worn by Walt “Clyde” Frazier, the first basketball player to have a shoe named after him, the suede low-top silhouette became an athletic staple through the 1970′s, and later, a cult favorite amongst B-boys, Hip-hop artists and punk-rockers. For the relaunch of the shoe, PUMA has released various iterations of the sneaker this season inspired by the basketball great.

The latest drop in the series showcasing the PUMA Clyde is the Wraith Pack. Replacing the matte finish of suede with the polished glow of patent leather, the PUMA Clyde Wraith channels the luxe stylings of Frasier’s Rolls-Royce. Accents like a hit of Kurim on the heel, custom lace locks and the number 10 etched into the lace tips representing Walt’s first New York jersey number make the shoe a flashy alternative to the traditional Clyde.

Adding depth to the campaign, PUMA has also launched a film directed by Creations of LA featuring Walt Frazier’s insight on his namesake sneaker as well as his on-court work ethic and sense of fashion. The film juxtaposes Clyde, suited up with his sneakers, against shots of today’s young creatives also rocking the shoe in their own style.

Check out the video above, and lookout for the PUMA Clyde Wraith Pack to release in both black and cordovan colorways on September 29th exclusively at Footlocker.
